Farewell to Arms
On December 14th, 2012, at 9:35 in the morning, Newtown, CT experienced severe tragedy when 26 people were violently gunned down at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Twenty of them were small children, 6 and 7 years old. Without warning, hundreds of lives were changed forever.
In the United States, where 270 million people own guns, there is a school shooting nearly every week. Every day 289 people are shot, and one person is killed every 17 minutes. Every single time this happens, unfathomable devastation consumes countless families.
This is a national emergency deserving uninterrupted attention; unfortunately the conversation always fades a few weeks after each shooting. The Farewell to Arms exhibit endeavors to keep this dialogue alive.
After all, we deserve the right to send our children to school without the fear of never seeing them again.
